Dark Lover by J.R. Ward
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Wrath is a vampire, actually he’s suppose to be the king of the vampires. However he wants nothing to do with being king, the fact that everyone is constantly calling him “my Lord” is bad enough. He is tough, big, strong, a true warrior and lethal killer, but he still doesn’t feel worthy of the title, and refuses to ascend to the throne. He is part of a brotherhood of warriors that hunt in the shadows of the night, the Black Dagger Brotherhood. They swore to protect the vampire race from the Lessening Society; a group of soulless beings that’s soul purpose for existing is to try to eliminate the whole vampire race.
Beth Randall is just your average American female human. She has been an orphan her whole life, and has never known her birth parents. She works as a journalist and editor, so that she is able to pay for her small apartment and anything else that she needs. She wants to some day be working for a big news company as a big time reporter, but doesn’t see it happening any time soon. She works for a small journal and even still there she doesn’t get to do any serious pieces, that’s saved for all the “big boys”.
In the small city of Caldwell, New York, both Wrath’s and Beth’s fates are about to cross and they don’t have a clue that it’s going to happen. But once they have crossed there will be no going back and their lives will never be the same again.
This book will have you hooked right from the first page, it is beyond addictive. It has a well developed plot and is very well written. You will fall in love with its super hot, sexy, and dangerous characters. When you get to the last page you will feel like crying because you won’t want it to be over. I strongly recommend this book, but it is definitely meant for a mature, adult audience and is definitely not a young adult’s book.
