Book Review

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So... I got this book because someone recommended it to me, but i honestly didn't think that i would like it but read it anyway. I was wrong, I LOVED this book. It's different, interesting, captivating, and creative. I was really surprised. This book has great characters that you will love or hat (but in a good way, if that makes sence), the author developes them really well and this keeps you reading because you are always wanting to know what happens to them next. I would recommend this book to anyone that likes books about vampires, the paranormal, and are full of adventure with a bit of romance mixted in with all of it.

Kisses and Lies (Kiss/Scarlett Wakefield, #2)Kisses and Lies by Lauren Henderson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Definetly a sequel that did not disapoint!

I think that I may have like this on even better than the first. It had more action, suspence, and secrets. Many secrets. In this book Scarlett is lead to the home of the boy that died in her arms, Dan McAndrews, to solve his murder and make peace with his familly. There she meets his sister, who is nice to her right from the start, his twin brother, who treats her like she's the reason that his twin is dead without even knowing her or what happend, and his parent, who are very polite but also strugeling with the death of there son. Here she learns more about what Dan was like and as so many secrets about his familly. This book was the perfect sequel to Kiss Me Kill Me. The author timed everything perfectly, and keept you guessing right up to the endding, which is very unexpected, and will leave you surprised. I definetly recommend this book to everyone that has read, Kiss Me Kill Me, and if you haven't read that you should read it and then read this.

Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3) Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, #3) by Richelle Mead

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Spoilers! don't read this if you haven't finished this book. Well, I'm not really sure exactly what I thought about this one. I really liked it like all of the others in the series and all, but there were definetly some things that I didn't like or at least am not really sure that I liked that they happend. First of all, I really didn't like what happened to Dimitri at the end of this book, I was really upset while reading it. Second of all, i don't like how at the end of the book Rose left the academy and her best friend, Lissa. I think that this will really change how the next book is because I'm so used to Rose and Lissa always being together. Last of all, I was really sad that mason left and that there is a good chance you won't see him again. But, I think that this kind of makes me want to read the next on that much more because I am dieing to know what is going to happen, and i guess that that is what the an author aims for when writting a series. Over all i still loved this book and really injoyed reading it.

Kiss Me Kill Me (Kiss/Scarlett Wakefield, #1)Kiss Me Kill Me by Lauren Henderson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Great teen murder mystery!

I loved this book, it was interesting and full of twidts and turns. It starts out when a girl named Scarlett goes to a party and a boy named Dan McAndrew, her first crush, dies in her arms when she kisses him for the first time. You then follow Scarlet as she transfers to a prep school run by her grandmother to get away from the constant teasing and guilt after Dans death. She is just starting to start a new life at this school when she reasives an anonymous not from someone that tells her that they know she is inoccent. This sends Scarlett on her way to find out what happend the night of the party, and clearing her name.

This is a great book for anyone that's in to mystery and loves books full of suspense. The endding will also have you running out to get the sequel.

City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3)City of Glass by Cassandra Clare

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Clary's off to Idris, the City of Glass, to save her mother. An old friend of her mothers, Madeleine, from her mother shadowhunter days, has reveiled to her the secret of how to save her mother, she's the only person that her mother ever told about what she did to herslef to put herself into a coma. Madeleine has told Clary that to save her mother she musy find a wise, old warlock named Ragnor Fell. Plans are made for them all to go to Idris, but Jace is not happy about it, he doesn't want Clary to go. Jace goes to great lengths to make sure that Clary does not go, but in the end his attempts were useless. Clary is in the city along with Luke who isn't even legaly allowed to be in the city; Simon, who was accidentally brought to Idris, is now in prison; and to top it all off the Clave is strugling to decide what it is that their going to do about Valentine who has disappeared once again and this time with two of the Mortal Insturments.

The adventure continues right from were it left off in the last book, and is just as exciting and suspenseful as all the others in the series. In this book you will uncover even more surprising secrets about all the characters and you will finally get some of the answers that you have been waiting for since the beginning. What will Valentine do next? Will Simon get out of the prison that the Clave is holding him in? Will Clarys mother come out of her coma alive? And what will happen next between Clary and Jace? All these questions and many more will finally be answered.

I absolutly LOVED this book. It was suspenseful, cleaver, smart, adventurous, dangerous, and just all around AMAZING! If you haven't read this book yet and liked the others in the series then your missing out, you definetly have to read this one, you won't be disapointed. And if you haven't read any of the others in the series then you are REALLY missing out, this series is great. I recommend this book to everyone that likes paranormal adventures, but if you don't like paranormal books I would still recommend this one, the series is one of my favoutrite by far.

Book Review

City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2)City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book picks up right were the first one left off. Clary's life has gotten alot more complicated ever since she discovered that she is a shadowhunter. Her mother is in some kind of magical coma that no one can get her out of, Luke, the man that she has grown up with and practcally a father to her, is a werewolf, Valentine, her newly discovered father, has escaped with the Mortal Cup, and she has a new brother, Jace. And it looks like things are just going to continue to get even more complicated.

The whole Shadow world is falling apart, not only has there been no sign of Valentines where about and the Mortal cup, but there's something that has been killing downworlder children. First a young worlock was found dead and drane drained of blood, then a werewolf boy was attacked out side of a popular werewolf hang out, and now a fea child was drained of blood. All evidence is pointing to the Children of the Night, but there leader swears that it is not them that have been murdering the downworlder children. So now it is up to Clary and her new friends to uncover what is really happenning in the Shadow World, while also dealing with there own personal problems, Jace is being acused of conspiering with his father against the Clave, Clary is trying to give Simon a chance, and even though they have now discovered that they are brother and sister, Jace and Clary are having trouble hidding their feelings for each other, but it may be to late, have they already begun to fall in love.

I thought that this was a great sequl to the first book, City of Bones. It picked up right were the first left off and never skiped a beet. The characters continue to get further developed and seem almost real. Clare has done an amazing job creating a story line that keeps you hang on it's every word. She knows exactly were to put all the twists and turns that keep you guessing and wanting to read more to find out what will happen next. I think that I may have like this one even more then the first, there was more action and the plot just keeps getting thicker and thicker, and now I can't wait to start the next book to find out what will happen in the end.

I would recommend this book to anyone, if you like a book with adventure, secrets, love, and the paranomal than your sure to love this book. Also if you've read the first book and loved it you will not be disapointed with this one.

Book Review

City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1)City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Carissa Fray was just a normal 15 year old teenager. She was an only child and lived with her mother in an apartment in New York. A usual day for Clary was going to school, and hanging out with her best friend Simon. This was until one night when she returns home from hanging out at a club with Simon and finds her mother missing, but this not the only surprise waiting for her when she gets home that night. After discovering that something is seriously wrong she begins to search every inch of the house in hopes that she was wrong and her mother is there somewhere. But she’s not and soon Clary is face to face with the scariest creature that she has ever seen in her life and is forced to fight for her life.

She wakes up three days later in a strange, with no home to go back to, and the one last person closest to family never wants to see her again. No she is forced to live with a group of people that she knows nothing about in a whole new world that she never even knew existed. With the aid of her new friends she sets out in search of her mother, and her true identity. Her life will never be the same again.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had a unique plot that kept you captivated all the way through, and was well thought out. My favourite part of the book was its characters. They were very well developed and interesting. This made you connect with all of the characters in different ways, making them all unique to themselves. Even the characters that were evil you had to like in some ways, they all added to the whole story.

This was a book full of adventure with all sorts of twists and turns, with a new surprise around everyone. I recommend this book to anyone that loves a book that is full of action and set in a paranormal world, you will be hooked right from the very beginning.

Book Review

Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1)Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nora had just about the most normal, boring life you could think of. She went to school, got good grades, worked one the school paper, and hung out at the library a lot after school. She had a best friend named Vee whom was almost the exact opposite of her, and also an enemy thats favourite past time was making fun of Nora and Vee. She would go home to her farm house where she was alone a lot other than her families house keeper because her mothers job entitled much traveling, which gave her a lot of freedom that she rarely took advantage of. Normal, boring, repetitive. That is untill Patch entered into her life.

Patch, the one student in her biology class that she didn't even know the name of. He was the transfer student with the chilling black eyes that seemed to see right into your soul. There was just something that wasn't right about him, and it unerved Nora. He scared her, but for reasons unknown to her she felt a certain draw or atraction to him, and with her lack of experience in the guy department she had no idea what any of it ment. Not to mention that Patch was mysterious and definietly hiding something, whether it was dangerous or not she couldn't figure him out at all. But the one thong she was positive of was that there was some kind of attraction between them than and she didn't know what it ment, and this scared her at the same time that intriged her. However unsure she was about this unexpected attraction she was sure that it ment that things in her normal boring life were about to change. For the better or for the worse? She would have to wait and find out.

I think that this book might be one of the best young adult, paranormal books that I have read yet. It had be hooked right from the first page, it took absolutly no effort to get into the story. It has a great plot filled with twists and turns that will have you glued to the edge of you seet right to the very last page. One of the best aspects of this book along with its plot is its characters. You will be captivated by their unique, strong, and complex personalities, the ability to relate to some of what they go throught pulls you even further into the story. Plus the unexplained and mysterious attraction building between Nora and Patch is a great treat for the romance fans. When you get to the last page you will be wishing you could have read it slower so that it wouldn't be over already, and will have you bagging for the sequel. I recemmend this book to all who are into the paranormal young adult books, this one will certanly not disapoint.

Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3)Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Zsadist is by far the scariest of all the brothers, he has eyes deep black, soulless eyes and a scar that stretches the length of his face. Add this to the ready to kill look that is always the expression you see on his face and it would be completely reasonable for everyone to fear him and give him his space. But can you blame him? He was not always like this, but driven to become this way from his horrible past experiences. Zsadist was a former blood slave, held against his will by a Mistress that did far more than just take blood from him, and he has the scars to prove it. His past has forged who he is now, broken beyond repair, not damaged.

Bella is a strong female from a powerful aristocratic family that has enjoyed living one her own just out side of town in a farm house. This is until her neighbour and friend got tangled up with the Black Dagger Brotherhood and by association so did she. Right from the first time she laid eyes on Zsadist she was completely captivated by him. She couldn’t get him off her mind even after he made it perfectly clear that he wanted nothing to do with her. And than it happened, she was captured by the Lessening Society and held captive. And now Zsadist is set on finding her and seeking revenge against the killers that have taken her. All he can do is pray that she is still alive to be saved.

Another amazing novel by Ward. This one absolutely had it all from intense fighting to heart breaking discoveries. Zsadist story is by far the most moving and saddest one yet and I think that it may be my favourite one out of the first three. If you haven’t read this one yet I strongly suggest that you do, I promise that you will not be disappointed at all. I recommend this book to anyone who has read the first two novels in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. I am very excited to continue on in this series and to learn more about all of the brothers and their lovers.

Lover Eternal (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #2)Lover Eternal by J.R. Ward

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rhage was definitely a ladies man. He had been with more woman than you could count, but they were nothing to him, just a distraction. He was a great warrior, strong fighter, and an asset to the Brotherhood. However he had a dark side, very dark. In him he hides a beast, which is both blood thirsty and unbelievably powerful. This was a curse that was given to him by the Scribe Virgin, one that he could not control and feared. Not only did he fear for himself, but for any one that was around when that monster came out, especially his brothers.

Mary was a very strong person, she had been through things that would have killed many others. She watched her mother die from her bedside, and had survived a round of cancer. Her greatest fear was that the cancer would come back, because she knew that if it did she wasn’t likely to pull through this time.

Mary and Rhage are from two totally different worlds, but that is going to change. When Mary befriends a young man that is not even aware of what he is, she finds herself sucked into Rhages world of vampires without even knowing what is happening. Or that she will never come back out from it, at least not unaltered.

In the second book of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Ward has created another great romance. Rhages struggle within himself for control so that he is not a threat to the ones he cares for will have your heart acing for him, and you can’t help but fall for him. Also Mary’s strong will, proves to be a great match for Rhages over confident nature. I can’t wait to read the next installment in the Brotherhood series, I’m sure that it will be just as great as the first two.

Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1)Dark Lover by J.R. Ward

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wrath is a vampire, actually he’s suppose to be the king of the vampires. However he wants nothing to do with being king, the fact that everyone is constantly calling him “my Lord” is bad enough. He is tough, big, strong, a true warrior and lethal killer, but he still doesn’t feel worthy of the title, and refuses to ascend to the throne. He is part of a brotherhood of warriors that hunt in the shadows of the night, the Black Dagger Brotherhood. They swore to protect the vampire race from the Lessening Society; a group of soulless beings that’s soul purpose for existing is to try to eliminate the whole vampire race.
Beth Randall is just your average American female human. She has been an orphan her whole life, and has never known her birth parents. She works as a journalist and editor, so that she is able to pay for her small apartment and anything else that she needs. She wants to some day be working for a big news company as a big time reporter, but doesn’t see it happening any time soon. She works for a small journal and even still there she doesn’t get to do any serious pieces, that’s saved for all the “big boys”.
In the small city of Caldwell, New York, both Wrath’s and Beth’s fates are about to cross and they don’t have a clue that it’s going to happen. But once they have crossed there will be no going back and their lives will never be the same again.

This book will have you hooked right from the first page, it is beyond addictive. It has a well developed plot and is very well written. You will fall in love with its super hot, sexy, and dangerous characters. When you get to the last page you will feel like crying because you won’t want it to be over. I strongly recommend this book, but it is definitely meant for a mature, adult audience and is definitely not a young adult’s book.

Book Review

Captivate (Need, #2)Captivate by Carrie Jones

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The fear of pixies is… Well if there was a name for it like the fear of spiders, arachnophobia then Zara would have it. They are manipulative, cunning and completely and utterly evil. Zara learnt this first hand when she moved from Charleston where she lived with her mother, to Maine to live with her grandma after her father (stepfather) passed away. Even though she was only in Maine for a very short time, her life got twisted up in the world of the pixies that she hadn’t even known existed. In this time she had been staked, attacked and abducted by the pixies, and on top of all of this she discovered that her father, her biological father, was not only a pixies, but the pixies King. However Zara was lucky and with the help of her new friends, Nick (a werewolf and the boy she is involved with), and some other weres including her grandma she was able to escape from the pixies. Further more they were all able to trap the pixies in their mansion.

Problem solved right? Well, that’s what they thought, but isn’t exactly the case. Now they have a new problem, there are more pixies out there and they are for some unknown reason coming into Maine. This means that they have to capture and trap these new pixies in with all the others. With all these new pixies there have come rumors of other kings and battles. So where does that leave Zara and her friends? Will they be able to solve all of their problems and get rid of these new pixies? Or is there just more to it than they know?

In this second installment of the Need series all of these questions are addressed along with many others. If like Zara and her friends you thought that the pixie problem was solved you are in for a bit of a surprise. Through out this book you get to know the characters more and you may also meet some new and interesting characters along the way. There were some twist and turns in the plot just like in the first novel from the series. Although. I feel that this book was a little slower in spots and that the plot could have been a bit better developed and thought through, but was still a very enjoyable book. There are some parts of the book however that I thought were maybe better than the first and had my interest right away and unlike the first this one does not have quite as clean of an ending. The author ends her second novel on a bit of a cliffhanger and has me looking forward to the next book to get the answers that I’m looking for, and I think that this was a good choice -not matter how much I may dislike cliffhangers- for her to do this to keep the readers eager to read on. Over all I think that this was a very good book and definitely recommend it to all those of you have read Need and enjoyed it.
